CV Summary Since 01/01/2023, Dr. Mariana Strauss is a Senior Technician at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography funded by a PTA grant from MICIU/AEI. She works on projects related to marine microbiology using different -omics approaches (metagenomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics). She is currently working on the MINERVA and GENEROSITY projects (coordinated by Dr. Eva Sintes), which aim to study how microbes can influence the structure and function of ecosystems. She did her PhD thesis in Biological Sciences related to molecular biology at the National University of Córdoba, Argentina (2011-2016). She performed international internships at the Drug Development Laboratory at University of Maringá, Brazil, working with cell culture techniques; and at the Research Institute in Genetic, Engineering and Molecular Biology, Buenos Aires, Argentina. She had a postdoctoral position (2017-2019) for the research of human genetic basis. The postdoctoral study had two phases. I) At the National University of Cordoba, INICSA-CONICET and II) at the Institute of Parasitology and Biomedicine López-Neyra, CSIC, in Granada, Spain. She had worked on a genome-wide association study (GWAS). This study was financed by 3 institutions: CONICET, the Ibero-American Network of Genomic Medicine in Chagas Disease (CYTED) and the program of Enhancing Mobility between Latin-American and Caribbean countries and Europe. Throughout the years she mentored 3 undergraduate students (in Biology) and 4 Master's theses in Genetics and participated in science communication programs.
