Abstract: The ICES Cooperative Research Report (CRR) number 344 on acoustic target classification is now available. This document provides guidance and methods for categorizing multifrequency hydroacoustic data into biological groups or species. The ICES Fisheries Acoustics, Science and Technology Working Group (WGFAST) motivates, facilitates and expedites developments in the field, and formed a Working Group on Target Classification (WGTC), which authored this latest report.
