CV Summary

I am a marine biologist with a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of La Laguna (Spain) and a master’s degree Erasmus Mundus Marine Biodiversity and Conservation from the University of Ghent (Belgium).

Since 2012, I have been involved in several projects related with marine coastal ecology in collaboration with different institutions including the Algarve Centre of Marine Sciences (CCMAR-Algarve), the Marine Sciences Laboratory (CIEMAR – University of Evora), ISPA – University Institute of Psychological, Social and Life Sciences, and the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC).

My current research interests focus on the management and conservation of marine systems and their human dimension. I am presently a PhD candidate at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (IEO-CSIC), in the Group of Ecosystems Oceanography at the Balearic Islands (GRECO) under the supervision of Dr. Marta Albo Puigserver and Dr. Manuel Hidalgo Roldán. My thesis, “Socioecological resilience of small-scale fisheries in the Balearic Islands to climatic and anthropogenic pressures” aims to evaluate the state of the ecossystem services related to Small Scale Fisheries, and the effects of global change and other antropogenic pressures on this socio-ecological system.

At present, I am part of the projects ReFISH-Food (Resiliencia climática de la pesca de artes menores en las Islas Baleares: evaluación de la seguridad alimentaria proporcionada por el sector pesquero y posibles medidas de adaptación) and BioTrans (BIOdiversity monitoring and risks assessment of the Balearic Small Scale Fisheries to support a socio-ecological TRANSformation), both within the GRECO group.
