> Wrapping up of the IDEA project: INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON THE ENVIRONMENT, DEMERSAL RESOURCES AND FISHERIES
Scope of the workshop
This international workshop will deal with the influence of environmental factors on demersal species and fisheries. In the Mediterranean, although there is some information on the pelagic ecosystem, almost nothing is known of the environmental influence on the demersal ecosystem. Research on this topic has becoming increasingly more relevant in recent years as ecosystem based management of renewable marine resources replaces the more simplistic concepts on which traditional population dynamics are based.
Goals
- Obtain a general view of the relationship between environmental factors and demersal resources.
- Establish possible models for this relationship that have global significance.
- Encourage group discussion and relations between research groups in the Balearic Islands and other international research groups.
- Identify future lines of research that are necessary in this field.
- Reinforce collaboration between the participants in order to generate new ideas on this theme and establish future group research projects.
- Publish the results of the workshop in a SCI rated journal.
