CV Summary

I am a biologist holding a MSc from the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB, 2021). In 2022, I contributed to the DOMINO Project (Unraveling the behavior of tropical purse seiners to refine the estimation of the effort deployed by one of the most important tuna fleets on the planet).

Since December 2023, I have been pursuing my doctoral studies as a PhD candidate at the Oceanographic Centre of the Balearic Islands (COB-IEO, CSIC). My role as a predoctoral researcher is supported by funding from the Govern de les Illes Balears (Conselleria d’Economia, Hisenda i Innovació). My PhD thesis is part of the BALEATUN project, and I am under the guidance of Diego Álvarez Berastegui.

In my thesis, I am delving into a comprehensive analysis of the environmental influences on the early life stages of the Mediterranean albacore (Thunnus alalunga) and the Atlantic bluefin tuna (Thunnus thynnus). The primary focus of this research is to reduce potential uncertainties related to catchability and abundance estimation, employing a Bayesian framework. The overarching goal is to refine assessments for both of these ecologically significant species, contributing to a more accurate understanding of their dynamics and conservation needs.
