Short CV Diego Alvarez-Berastegui is a researcher at the Spanish Institute of Oceanography (CSIC-IEO) where he investigates the influence of environmental fluctuations on fish habitats. He is also the Coordinator for the Fisheries and Aquaculture Task Team of the Mediterranean Oceanographic Network for the Global Ocean Observing System (MONGOOS) and leads the Mediterranean Tuna Habitats Observatory and European delegate at the ICCAT Standing Committee on Research and Statistics (SCRS). Since beginning his professional journey at the University of Cádiz, he has championed the integration of marine observation systems into the study of fish ecology and sustainability, helped coordinate various scientific initiatives and collaborated with organizations including the Climate Impacts on Oceanic Top Predators (IMBER/CLIOTOP), the International Council for Exploration of the Sea (ICES), the European Space Agency (ESA) and the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (ICCAT).
