Short CV

Mónica holds a degree in Biology with a Master’s in Advanced Microbiology and a Master’s in Nutrigenomics and Personalized Nutrition, all completed at the Universitat de les Illes Balears.

Her first foray into the scientific workforce was nearly six years as a laboratory support technician in cancer research (lung cancer). During that period she gained experience in molecular biology and processing blood samples for diagnostic and oncological monitoring, as well as cell culture applications and subsequent data analysis. She then worked as a laboratory technician in a hospital setting.

Since May 2025, she has joined the Group of Ecosystems Oceanography GRECO within the ENIGMA project to determine how antifouling compounds affect microbial communities in marine ecosystems.
